How Do You View Your Setbacks?
Another setback, I thought. Four rib fractures, bruised liver, kidney and lung. Sirens ringing, physicians prodding, needles, oxygen and medication. Wow!!! All this because of a moment lapse in attention, a fall from a 7 foot stepladder, which led me to spend 12 days in hospital, semi comatose, and now eight weeks later, partially recovered, enjoying the multiple blessings that became obvious.
How do you view what appears to be a setback in your life? Do you shout and pout? Do you blame others for the event? Do you seek revenge? Or do you choose to embrace the event and seek the blessings? Life is but a series of lessons. Take time to breathe deeply, and enjoy every moment, because no matter how bad the moments, it is these moments that make up your life.
Yesterday, a dear high school buddy, now Bishop in the Catholic Church, reminded me that life is not about what you create or take, it's really about what you share and give. The quality of one's life is not measured by how many breaths you take, but by the moments you live that take your breath away. It is by breathing deeply and enjoying the essence of breathing that we can truly enjoy the moments that take our breath away.
Seek the blessings in every moment, enjoy these blessings and share them with everyone you meet.
